Ahem, ah, I’m sorry for barging in on you like this, wasting your precious time, and I haven’t even proved myself to be a totally dependable blogger, so I won’t be promising anything as big as an “I’m back” because I really don’t know if I am but….
I guess ‘re-brand’ would be a better word for it, but here’s the situation:
As soon as my WordPress Personal Plan ran out this time last year, some news website bought the same domain name. As in, there are two Of Opinions in town now, my old curiosity shop which hasn’t seen much business lately and the flashy new superstore, which seems unlikely to ever be unable to pay for the domain name, unlike the previous owner who has yet to make a dime, though she has been in business for over five years.
I usually have a title before I start writing a blog post, but not today. I can feel the adrenaline kicking in, as I dangerously write a blog post on the LibreOffice Writer without saving it. If you asked me to choose between doing that and missing being hit by a speeding motorcyclist by an inch while walking down the zebra crossing with the red traffic light on (an event that took place this past Wednesday), I’d pick the latter. Well, I’d normally pick the latter. But, today I don’t care. Continue reading “The Point of Blogging”→
As if things weren’t already a bit s**t, The Daily Post is closing down. For those of you who don’t know what that is, well, it is the best part of WordPress. Years and years ago I was given this piece of advice: to begin any piece of writing with a “sixer”. I’m sure that term is lost on all non-cricket-loving people reading this, but this letter is not about, or for, people, cricket-loving or otherwise. This letter is for you and me, rather From Me To You, and if our relationship causes obscurity among the masses, so be it. We don’t need to care about Them.
But, you will probably be rolling your eyes at that declaration, given how much we haven’t been a “We” lately. I will dare to go to the extent of telling you I haven’t thought about we – about you, about us together, Continue reading “A Letter To My Blog”→
I kept complaining all year long about how I was being a bad blogger, how I was deficient both in quantity as well as in quality, that I finally decided to review my 2017 in blogging, and not focus on blogging goals ahead, as I usually do this time of the year. Continue reading “Of 2017 in Blogging”→
You know those random things you suddenly remember? For no apparent reason at all? Especially the kind of memory you’ve never remembered since it happened? As if I haven’t given you ample proof of my weirdness as a kid already (and an even weirder adult), I was ashamed of watching Continue reading “Of Celebrations”→
